About Pablo Rivera

"My Life is ART, no apologies, however I love the sport of triathlon and ultra running. I have this feeling that life is not all that long and I should cherish every moment, thing, experience, person and place because it will go away, way too soon."
Pablo Rivera
Pablo Rivera is a multi-faceted artist, well-known for his stone and wood sculptures, expressive watercolor paintings, portraits and drawings. In addition to being represented in many private collections, Rivera continues to practice fine are, teach classes in multiple disciplines and work as a fine art photographer.
Pablo was born in El Barrio, the Spanish Harlem section of New York City. Upon graduating from Cooper Union School of Art, he worked as a graphic designer in New York. He later worked as a stock photographer with assignments across the nation, as well as France, until concentrating on fine art and teaching after retiring in Jacksonville. Pablo has attended workshops at The School of Visual Arts and Education Alliance in New York, University of North Florida and Florida State College in Jacksonville, as well as workshops with Charles Reid, Don Andrews, Robert Leedy and Mary Whyte in watercolor and Enzo Torcoletti in stone sculpture. He has exhibited with the Ritz Museum, the Haugeumgang Theme Museum in South Korea, St. Augustine Art Association, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Jacksonville, The Coalition of Visual arts, the Adele Grage Cultural Center in Atlantic Beach and the Southlight Gallery.
When asked how he came about the decision to donate the proceeds of the sale of art to Jax Hope, Inc. and people with Parkinson’s, Pablo shared his deeply heartfelt and personal story. “I witnessed my father’s struggle with the disease until it brought an end to his life. I’m also watching a similar struggle by a dear artist friend who at this stage manages to quiet the tremors enough to still produce wonderful portraits.” With hopeful resolve, Pablo concluded, “It’s a familiar battle that someday will be won by science.”
Jax Hope is honored to be the recipient of Pablo’s incredible talent and generosity. We hope you can join us in celebrating the life and art of Pablo Rivera!
